Do you think that would make a difference? I'm just trying to rack my brain here for what it could be & what changes need to be made so we can get these into the hands of our kiddos.Apple Volume Purchase Program (Apple VPP) Where is Apple Volume Purchase Program (Apple VPP) Available? We are using an Ergotron cart to sync with Apple Configurator.Īlso, in an effort to configure the iPads by a deadline, I did end up using a program manager ID and not a program facilitator ID. (which I wasn’t able to do either….) Note: I am working with Mountain Lion & iPad 6.0 software. I did not select the devices to be supervised because after having so much trouble & running short on time, I wanted to be able to install the apps manually as a plan B. I also made sure that the Mac Mini used throughout this process was an authorized iTunes Store computer for the initial, non-VPP Apple ID. Meaning I was unable to select the checkbox that app to be included in the Preparation of devices. HOWEVER, the two rows for just the two paid apps appeared dim (grayed out) and were inactive. This is similar to my issue except when the redemption code import process was all taken care of, the paid apps showed in the app dock along with the free apps and also displayed the number of redemption codes remaining. There is a bug with importing VPP codes for apps that have a comma in the title (I couldn't import the VPP codes for an app that had a colon in the title either.) ĭoes that help? I agree it is VERY confusing and Apple's documentation does not explain this, not that I could find anyway. Then you navigate to the excel spreadsheet that you downloaded with the VPP codes for that app and import it. You can do this by clicking on the icon next to the app name at the far right (I think an exclamation point). After importing the free and paid apps, you will have to import the VPP code for the paid apps in order to install them on a device via the Configurator. When you import paid apps you will get a message saying that it is a paid app. You should be able to import both free and paid apps. In the configurator, you can import the apps from iTunes since you have associated the same email account with both iTunes and the Configurator on that computer. I enter one of the VPP codes in the field and can download the app, You do not have to enter the name of the app, just the VPP code. Click the arrow and select "redeem." A 'Redeem Code" screen comes up. If you hover over the name an arrow will appear on the right side. In the upper right hand corner I see the email account. So to install an app on 20 iPads I purchased 21 codes. When I purchased my apps using the VPP store, I purchased one more than I actually needed - n + 1. On that computer I also associate the account with the Configurator - go to the Apple Configurator > Preferences menu and you will see a place to enter the ID. On that Mac, I associate the account with itunes. I download the excel spreadsheet to the Mac being used for the configurator. We also created two email aliases for itunes - we have one Mac on each - forwards to - forwards to staff member on different campus Program Manager: - forwards to - forwards to - forwards to staff member on different campus I asked my network admin to create email aliases for the Program Manager and Program Facilitator accounts. We have the same setup as you (Program Manager and two program Facilitators).
